These are fairly old photographs, taken on a trip a couple of years ago. I come back to them occasionally for inspiration. Orakei Korako is an insane geothermal area located on the banks of the Waikato River near Taupo. A path leads you around all these different natural formations - geysers, hot springs and mud pools, silica terraces. I am constantly inspired by the colours and textures of the natural world around us.
I realised today that, when exploring areas I'm in awe of, I would like to film it. While I am a sucker for a good photograph of natural areas (and unsure of my skills for filming things), there are some things that a still cannot often capture - movement. Waves hitting the shore, seaweed flowing with the tide, leaves blowing gently in the wind. I hope to return to Orakei Korako one day and film it.
